From Rebeuss to Doha: Epstein Was Still Pitching Wade the Day He Died

Hours after walking out of prison in June 2016, Karim Wade was on a plane to Qatar. Within weeks he and Epstein had revived the Norwegian LNG deal. Epstein was still pitching him to investors in 2018.

June 25, 2016. Sultan emailed Epstein with the official version: Wade had been granted a presidential pardon, though he remained liable for a $200 million fine. French media and Al Jazeera were reporting that Qatar had acted as mediator. He was flown to Doha the same night he walked out.

Two months later, first contact from exile. Epstein: "Any fun?" Wade: "Yes Sir, really enjoy Qatar."

By September he was already back to business. Wade: "Yes still in Doha. Are u still in contact with ur LNG friend" (EFTA01744455-0). Wade confirmed: "Yep the norvegian guy with the fleet of LNG ships" (vol00009-efta00817072-pdf-0). Three years in prison. Back to the LNG deal.

November 2: Epstein asked if Wade was in Qatar. Wade: "Yeswill be there. Just met with J'aborde who told me that you are coming" (EFTA01738729-0). J'aborde is not identified elsewhere in the archive.

November 29: Epstein introduced Wade to Larry Summers: "larry, karim, karim - lany, lany will be in doha on wed, i think you two would enjoy meeting." Wade replied to Summers: "I'll be very please to meet or take you for diner" (vol00009-efta01060422-pdf-1).

The last Wade emails in the archive are from 2018, still in Doha, still in contact.
