"Can Bring a Little Baby Back for You.... or Two": Peggy Siegal's Email from the Gate

On December 19, 2009, Peggy Siegal boarded a plane for Kenya on Epstein's dime. From the gate she wrote him a thank-you note. At the end she offered to bring him back a Kenyan child. Boys or girls, she asked. "So Madonna."

On December 19, 2009, Peggy Siegal was on a plane with her daughter Mattie, about to take off for Amsterdam to Nairobi. The itinerary: "Cotter's Camp in the Masai Mara....then to Sasaab...Then...to Lamu to Peponi Hotel....and back Jan. 4th." The trip was Epstein's. "We can not thank you enough yet another life experience" (EFTA02433105-0).

Midway through the email she mentioned Somalia: "If the Masai warriors don't eat us, the pirates from Somalia will." Then, a few lines later: "Can bring a little baby back for you....or two. Boys or girls? So Madonna."

The Madonna reference was current. In June 2009, six months before Siegal's flight, Madonna had finalized the adoption of Mercy James from Malawi. Celebrity adoptions from sub-Saharan Africa were a recurring news story. Siegal was using it as a punchline. She signed off planning a Palm Beach visit in January and noting that the Duchess of York had been on morning television.
