Sultan Brokers Epstein's Access to South Africa's Casino King Sol Kerzner

On June 25, 2010, Ian Douglas, an executive in Sol Kerzner's chairman's office, emailed Jeffrey Epstein. "Following your discussions with Sultan bin Sulayem, Mr Sol Kerzner has asked that I get in touch with you," Douglas wrote. He proposed a meeting on July 21 at Kerzner's New York offices in the Crown Building on Fifth Avenue (EFTA02411125-0). Epstein's staff replied that he would not be in New York on the 21st and suggested a phone call to coordinate a new date. The reply also noted that "Jeffrey ,and Ghislaine Maxwell, have met sol" and instructed Douglas to "remind sol that their first contact was with David and Cathy Luri , in the eighties" (vol00009-efta00736051-pdf-0). Douglas followed up on June 29. Epstein's assistant Sarah K. forwarded the follow-up internally: "I told him I would speak with you about this.. should I tell him we will need to wait till the date gets closer? Do you want to meet him?" Epstein responded: "he is supposed to send info first, I spoke to sol on the phone" (vol00009-efta00736244-pdf-0).

On July 14, Lesley Groff sent a reminder: "Sol Kerzner would like to meet with you on July 21" (EFTA02409524-0). On July 21, Epstein forwarded the reminder with a single annotation: "nevergot any numbers" (EFTA01814737-0). The same day, Sultan Bin Sulayem texted Epstein: "I think sol will give the instruction to release the numbers after he meets you" (EFTA02409279-0). The archive contains no post-meeting follow-up.
