The Clinton Foundation Sent Ghislaine Maxwell the Africa Trip Manifest
In September 2002, the Clinton Foundation's scheduling office emailed Ghislaine Maxwell the full plane manifest for President Clinton's Africa trip, covering Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Mozambique, and South Africa. The manifest excluded Maxwell's own 'package' of travelers. Three months later, the head of Clinton's AIDS initiative wrote directly to Maxwell about progress in Rwanda and Mozambique.
On September 11, 2002, David Slade, Deputy Director of Scheduling at the Office of President William J. Clinton, emailed Ghislaine Maxwell. "Doug asked me to email you the following information for planning purposes as we approach our departure date for Africa. Dan Rather with CBS has requested that he along with 3 crew fly aboard the plane with President Clinton for the Cape Town to Johannesburg, South Africa leg." The email included the full plane manifest for every leg of the trip (vol00009-efta00578629-pdf-0).
The route: New York to Accra, Ghana. Accra to Abuja, Nigeria. Abuja to Kigali, Rwanda. Kigali to Maputo, Mozambique. Maputo to Cape Town. Cape Town to Johannesburg. Johannesburg to London. The manifest listed President Clinton, Doug Band, Kevin Spacey, Rodney Slater, Gayle Smith, Casey and Laura Wasserman, and Ira Magaziner joining in Rwanda. Each leg carried five to seven Secret Service agents. Slade noted the manifest excluded "your package" (vol00009-efta00578629-pdf-0).
Two days later, Slade sent a revised manifest. "FYI, President Clinton is no longer traveling to Kumasi, Ghana as part of his upcoming Africa trip" (vol00009-efta00580574-pdf-0).
Three months after the trip, on December 23, 2002, Ira Magaziner emailed Maxwell directly. Magaziner was the head of the Clinton Foundation's AIDS initiative. He wrote: "Ghislaine: How are you doing? We have been making good progress on the AIDS initiative. I have been back to Rwanda and Mozambique twice since we last talked and we are having good results in both countries. The more time I spend in Africa and in other poor countries, the clearer it becomes that effective investments in health and education are essential before they can advance. I hope you are well. Please give my regards to Jeffrey. I look forward to hearing your thoughts about your next steps whenever you formulate them" (vol00009-efta00578693-pdf-0).
