Prince Andrew served as the United Kingdom's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment from 2001 to 2011. He appears in Epstein's Africa-related correspondence in three connected threads. In October 2010, he co-planned a trip to Tripoli with Epstein to pursue Gaddafi's sovereign wealth, writing "Libya fixed. Call me whenever." In November 2010, he was physically present at Epstein's New York house during a conversation about Africa opportunities involving Karim Wade. Epstein wrote to Wade: "I'm with Prince Andrew at my house in New York... we are talking about the opportunities in Africa." Andrew referred to Gaddafi in emails as "Brother Leader." He resigned as Trade Envoy in 2011 following a separate controversy over his relationship with Epstein. In 2022 he settled a civil lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre.
