Leon Black co-founded Apollo Management (now Apollo Global Management), one of the world's largest private equity firms. In February 2012, Epstein described him to Nina Keita as "a client and a very close friend" who "owns appollo." A Google Calendar reminder in Epstein's archive reads: "Leon blacks guy see ivory coast minister." On February 6, 2012, Lesley Groff relayed that "Leon Black's guy, Ali Rasheed, says he would like to meet with the minister of the ivory coast today." Melanie Spinella, Black's assistant at Apollo, coordinated the meeting logistics with Epstein's office. He appears in 13 emails in the archive.
