Ehud Barak served as Prime Minister of Israel from 1999 to 2001 and as Defence Minister from 2007 to 2013. He is a regular correspondent in Epstein's archive. His connection to Africa runs through the Ivory Coast surveillance deal: in September 2013, Epstein passed him the personal email of Sidi Tiémoko Touré, Ouattara's chief of staff, writing "chief of staff of outara, he arrives tomorw, try to coordianate." The connection had been built through Nina Keita, Ouattara's niece. A mass surveillance contract for Ivory Coast's phone and internet communications, built by former Israeli intelligence officials, was formalized in 2014. Barak also appears in the archive as a confirmed or near-confirmed attendee at social dinners with Epstein in New York. His relationship with Epstein became public during the 2019 criminal proceedings; Barak acknowledged meeting Epstein multiple times but denied knowledge of his crimes.
