Ali Bongo Ondimba has served as President of Gabon since 2009, succeeding his father Omar Bongo who held the presidency for 41 years. He appears in Epstein's archive in a thread spanning June 2012 to May 2013. On June 24, 2012, Epstein used Karim Wade as an intelligence source to check whether Bongo was coming to Paris. Wade confirmed the trip. On July 1, 2012, Epstein told Sultan Bin Sulayem that Bongo was in Paris and he was with him. Epstein tried to bring Sultan to the same meeting; Sultan was traveling and could not attend. In May 2013, Sultan met Bongo independently in Libreville and told Epstein he had promised to bring him to Gabon. No documented Gabon visit by Epstein follows in the archive. Bongo was deposed in a military coup in August 2023 after an election dispute.
