It was incorporated in 1946 as the imperial tobacco factory with full monopoly to import, manufacture , market and also grow tobacco leaves - The company was transformed into a joint venture company in 1998 , and a ten year monopoly was given - the company now is called national tobacco enterprise Ethiopia - as a joint venture between govt . And sheba investment company ( belongs to m y group ) In 1998 we bought 22.15 percent and two months ago increased it by another 38 Perct. Now we are 60 percent

And govt. 40 percent and monopoly was renewed - We now producing five billion sticks of cigarettes and intend go to ten billion within two years time -we have been allocated a new plot double the size of our present site 42 hectors ) to move the production gradually We also market all international trade marks like Marlborough , Rothman . Etc As a monopoly tobacco factory - Our shares value at par is 100 million usd paid - Market value of our shares 270 mill. Usd
